London, British Library. MS Harley 315, f.15v. Detail of historiated initial 'D'(ixim[us]) of St Dunstan, seated at a forge, pinching the devil's nose with a pair of tongs. The first part of this manuscript was written at the Benedictine cathedral priory at Canterbury in the second quarter of the 12th century. The text is part of a larger Passional, or collection of saints' lives; this part comprises the lives of Sts Dunstan (incomplete) and Anselm, both Archbishops of Canterbury. The historiated initial occurs at the end of the Dunstan vita; British Library summary record here. More information about this manuscript, and a full set of digital images, are here. More about the now fragmented and incomplete Canterbury Passional here.
