After a successful online national service of Lessons & Carols in 2020, General Synod is working again with Anglican churches across Canada to offer another national service of Lessons and Carols this Advent season, to help us prepare for the coming of the Kingdom of God. Note: Ordained and/or lay leaders may submit their email information at the bottom of the page linked above, to be notified of when files of the service are available to download for optional inclusion in local services/events.

Blessings in the Parish of Shediac

The church family in Shediac (Diocese of Fredericton) decided to do something never tried before. What resulted was an event which encouraged families to continue their perseverance through the pandemic; welcomed those not familiar with the church; supported a local school to refurbish their playground; and, provided laughter and fellowship to many in attendance.

In the midst of the Fraser Valley flood emergency, the folks at St. Matthew, Abbotsford (Diocese of New Westminster) stayed focused on the concept that global life goes on. They addressed the disaster in the area and helped local neighbours, while remaining committed to responding globally through PWRDF.

Fort Norman Métis call for meaningful apology as ‘issues fade into time’

via Cabin RadioFirst Nations, Métis, and Inuit delegates are set to travel to the Vatican, in Rome, from December 17 to 20. Métis man Rocky Norwegian says it is important that community members “hear from the Pope personally, to acknowledge the crimes, promise to prevent the Church from ever allowing this to happen again, and seek forgiveness from all of their victims.”

Working group established for Chooutla Residential School

via the Toronto StarThe recently established Chooutla Working Group is reaching out to First Nations and others who have history, stories, information and photos that will shed light onto those who didn’t return from residential institution in the Yukon. The Chooutla Residential School in Carcross, Yukon, was operated by the Anglican Church from 1911 to 1969.

Making a Difference?! 45th Anniversary of the Ordination of women to the Priesthood in the ACC

On November 30, 1976, the first six female priests in the Anglican Church of Canada were ordained. This year the Anglican Church of Canada's first female Primate, Archbishop Linda Nicholls, joined with women across the Church to celebrate 45 years of the Ordination of Women in the Church. The recording of the event is now available.
