Dear Parish Family and Gordon Head community neighbours,

We are very pleased to bring you an update on the Ali family. Our original Ali family is doing very well - enjoying life, work and school in Victoria, and studying for their Canadian citizenship exams! We have just learned that Mr. Ali’s father, brother, sister and their children are finally getting their turn to come to Canada. Their health checks are currently being arranged and we anticipate their arrival 8 weeks to 6 months from now!

This is very welcome news! As a sponsorship group, we have been awaiting this development since before the COVID pandemic drastically impacted the process. It has thrown us back into very active planning and fundraising mode after a lull during the worst of the pandemic. We are currently about $7000.00 short of the amount required by the Canadian government to support them for one year.

St Dunstan’s parish has been such an ongoing source of support, and the Alis and the GHERKINS have been so very appreciative. We are asking for your help again to enable us to reach this support threshold. If you are able to help with a financial donation we would be so grateful!

Your donation is tax deductible and will be included in your 2022 St Dunstan’s charitable giving tax receipt. Please make your cheque payable to: St Dunstan’s Anglican Church with ‘Refugee Support Group’ in the memo line.

Mail or drop off to:

St Dunstan’s Anglican Church 1806 San Juan Avenue, Victoria, BC V8N 2H9

Please mark your donation Attn: Debra Brown

Many thanks again for your ongoing prayers and support for this lovely family! If you have further questions please reach out to Debra Brown or Monika Hall-Kowalewski, or email admin@stdunstansvictoria.ca
