In the week of 27 June 2021 we pray for The Rt. Rev. David Parsons, Bishop; The Rt. Revs. Annie Ittoshat, Lucy Netser, and Joey Royal, Suffragan Bishops, and the clergy and people of the Diocese of the Arctic.

"The Diocese of The Arctic... is by far the largest of the thirty dioceses in Canada, comprising almost 4,000,000 km2 (1,500,000 sq mi), or one-third the land mass of the country. ...The diocese encompasses the Arctic region of Canada including the entirety of the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and the Nunavik region of northern Quebec... Its approximately 18,000 Anglicans (over one-third of the total population) are served by thirty-one parishes. The administrative offices of the diocese are located in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories."  [source: Wikipedia]

The diocesan cathedral of St Jude, built in 2005 and replaced in 2012 after a fire, is in Iqaluit. It's the world's only igloo-shaped cathedral, though the Roman Catholic parish church of Our Lady of Victory in Inuvik is also igloo-shaped. [source: Anglican Journal, Wikipedia]

The diocese is a member of the Council of the North, and diocesan news appears in the Council's newsletter, Contact.
